Dermal fillers for the enhancement and augmentation of the lip area.
Dermal fillers for the enhancement and augmentation of the lip area is one of our most popular injectable treatments, here at Rosie Cooper Aesthetics in Leamington Spa and Oxford. We are able to achieve beautiful and natural-looking lip enhancements whilst adding definition and volume, if required. Lip fillers are an excellent, non-surgical way to rejuvenate the lip line and minimise lipstick ‘bleed’ lines. We can also help with drooping corners of the mouth. Dermal fillers for the lips should only be practiced by an experienced, medically-trained aesthetic practitioner, who has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the facial anatomy and who regularly administers dermal fillers, so that the results will complement the natural proportions of your face and are performed safely.
Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, contained in a gel. When injected in to the lips, the product not only physically augments the lips and help to build volume, but will continue to hydrate the skin tissues over time.
Before a lip filler treatment can be agreed upon, we will ask that you attend a no obligation consultation, so we can discuss what is bothering you about your lips, examine your lips and determine the techniques and products to use, for your individual case. We will also check your medical history, to ensure that there are no contraindications, which may prevent your treatment from going ahead. These include pregnancy and breast feeding.
After numbing the area to be treated, with a topical anaesthetic, your practitioner will inject specific quantities of the chosen filler into the areas of concern, using either a needle or, more commonly nowadays, a cannula. Cannulas minimise the risk of bruising and can also be more comfortable. Once the dermal filler has been injected, your practitioner may mould and shape the product, for a natural appearance.
Client comfort is one of our key concerns during all procedures. For lip enhancement, the area will be numbed prior to injection using the best topical anaesthetic cream, which greatly reduces discomfort.
As with all injectable treatments, there is always a risk of localised bruising and some swelling. This is a normal response and can vary from person to person. We will provide you with our pre and post procedure advice to help you minimise downtime where possible. It’s important to know that there is no clinical downtime (a period of time where you will need to rest at home), but more cosmetic downtime. As there can be some swelling and bruising, it is worth considering any upcoming special events or holidays, so you can time your treatment accordingly. We recommend having a dermal filler treatment, two weeks prior to any outing or event.
At Rosie Cooper Aesthetics in Leamington Spa and Oxford, we have a few favourite products for lip-enhancement. We use products specifically designed for the lip area such as Teosyal Kiss and Restylane products including Restylane Kysse and Perlane. Product options can be discussed with you during your consultation. We have strict criteria for the dermal filler brands that we choose; based on great results and client satisfaction; second-to-none safety record; minimal downtime and maximum longevity.
Lip filler injections are regarded as a very safe cosmetic procedure when performed by an experienced, medically-trained aesthetics practitioner, such as Independent Nurse Prescriber, Rosie Cooper.
You may notice results immediately after treatment but there is likely to be initial swelling. Which can take a week or two to subside and for the product to fully settle. It is after this time that we recommend that you attend the clinic for a follow-up appointment.
A longer philtrum and certain lip asymmetries can often be corrected very effectively with a lip augmentation treatment using dermal fillers. Your individual concerns can be assessed, and a bespoke treatment plan, arranged, during your initial, face-to-face consultation.
Permanent dermal fillers are not licensed for use in the UK and therefore, we do not recommend or use these products. Lip fillers will be naturally metabolised by your body over time and depending on your individual lifestyle choices and your body’s own rate of absorption of the product, you can expect your lip fillers to last between 6 and 12 months.
