We offer the reversal and correction of dermal filler procedures at Rosie Cooper Aesthetics.
Sometimes, the results of a dermal filler procedure might not be what we had hoped for. There may be an undesired result or an overly filled area, especially in the lips or cheeks. It may just be that we change our minds about the procedure as a whole, even if the results are good. In cases such as these, we offer the reversal and correction of dermal filler procedures, here at Rosie Cooper Aesthetics, in Leamington Spa. As someone who has carried out thousands of safe dermal filler procedures during her career, Independent Nurse Prescriber, Rosie Cooper applies her 15 years’ expertise in dermal fillers to also assist her patients, when they are no longer happy with the results of a previous treatment.
Dermal fillers can be dissolved by the expert use of a substance called Hyalase (Hyaluronidase). Hyalase acts on the hyaluronic acid (HA) contained in the dermal fillers which may have been incorrectly applied or over-applied. Over the course of a few days, after a treatment with Hyalase, you will notice your dermal fillers reverse and the results to go back to your natural-looking appearance. If after this treatment, you require another dermal filler treatment, more fitting for your requirements, you can do so.
There is some confusion surrounding treatment with Hyalase and some patients think that they are going to be permanently affected and their natural HA will be dissolved for good. The truth is that we renew our natural HA on a weekly basis, so even though our own stores might be temporarily dissolved by Hyalase, this won’t be the case in the long term. Many patients might feel as if they are looking less youthful and their skin may seem less hydrated, however, it is more likely that they are seeing their faces in their more natural state. Further, more subtle treatments can be applied, once the previous filler is removed, to replenish the skin and give a more natural-looking beauty to the face and complexion, if you so wish.
Before this treatment can be carried out, here at Rosie Cooper Aesthetics in Leamington Spa and Oxford, we will need to carry out a patch test, to ensure there is no allergic reaction to the product. We will also assess the areas you would like treated, as well as checking your medical history. Once we are satisfied that a treatment using Hyalase will be safe and effective for you, you can book your appointment for the procedure
The most common reasons are filler that looks overdone or unnatural, lumps or unevenness, filler that has moved from where it was placed, and a bluish tinge under thin skin. Some people simply want a fresh start, or have changed their mind about how they want to look. Sometimes we dissolve old filler before re-treating, so the new treatment starts from a clean, balanced base.
Results can start to be seen from a few days to 2 weeks, following the procedure. After 2 weeks, we will ask that you return to the clinic for a review appointment and to discuss any corrective treatment, using dermal fillers, if required.
Yes. Many of the people we see for correction had their original treatment elsewhere. If you can, bring details of the product used, when it was injected, and how much. If you don’t know, that’s fine: Rosie will assess the area carefully at consultation and plan accordingly.
No. The dissolving enzyme only works on hyaluronic acid fillers. Some fillers are made from other materials, such as calcium hydroxylapatite, poly-L-lactic acid or permanent fillers, and these can’t be dissolved this way. If you’re unsure what you had, Rosie will discuss the options at consultation, and if the filler can’t be dissolved, she’ll tell you and advise on next steps.
Sometimes. Some fillers are more resistant than others, and larger amounts or older filler can take more than one treatment to dissolve fully. Rosie uses a careful approach, dissolving as much as needed without over-treating, and she’ll check the result at your review. If any filler remains that you want removed, a second session can be done then.
Filler dissolving starts from £300, including your patch test and two-week review. The final cost depends on the area and how much filler needs to be dissolved, so you’ll get a clear quote at consultation.
