Botox® treatment can be used to smooth areas around the mouth as well as tighten and lift the lower face for instance to combat lines and wrinkles on the neck.
Botox® has been successfully used in the treatment of the upper facial areas for expression lines and dynamic wrinkles for the past 15 years.
Now, with modern and innovative techniques, a highly-skilled medical professional can now treat lower facial concerns too. At Rosie Cooper Aesthetics in Leamington Spa and Oxford, we specialise in advanced treatments for the lower face, using Botox® all administered in a clinical, professional environment.
There are several effective treatments using Botox® for the lower facial regions, now available, which might surprise you, such as smoker’s lines above and around the mouth, a gummy smile (where an excess of the gum is exposed whilst smiling), to lift downturned mouth corners, to smooth wrinkles and lines on the neck and to tighten the skin in this area and to tighten and lift jowls. We can actually tighten and lift the lower face in a procedure called the ‘Botox® face lift’. The ‘Nefertiti lift’ is a treatment which can lift the neck and combat lines and wrinkles in this area as well as improving prominent, vertical Platysmal muscle bands (the ones that pop up when we clench our teeth, for example).
Botox injections relax the muscles that can contribute to lines in the lower face and neck. The jawline can be improved by relaxing the muscles in the neck which otherwise can pull down the jawline. For a gummy smile, Botox® is injected in to your upper lip and nose, to temporarily relax the muscles that contract or elevate, when you smile. This still allows you to smile, but without showing your gums.
Before any treatment can take place, here at Rosie Cooper Aesthetics, we shall conduct a no obligation, initial consultation, so we can discuss your individual concerns and decide whether Botox® will be an appropriate and effective solution for you. We will also check your medical history as there are some contraindications which can restrict the treatment, such as pregnancy or breastfeeding. If your practitioner and you are happy to continue with a Botox® treatment for the lower face, after this initial meeting, you can then go ahead and book your appointment for the treatment.
Most results can be experienced within 2 to 3 weeks. In some patients, results happen sooner, but we recommend allowing this time, before returning to the clinic for a review appointment.
Results can last anything from 3 to 6 months, making this a very convenient treatment. Most patients only need to return to the clinic twice a year for their Botox® injections. If you take care of your skin and avoid excessive UV rays, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, your skin quality will be better than perhaps someone who takes these lifestyle choices. Everyone responds differently to Botox®, so don’t expect your results to last the same amount of time as a friend or relative. You are unique and so will be the longevity of your results. Over time, you will get used to when you need to return to the clinic for your Botox® injections and will notice the changes which will indicate a further treatment is required.
