We specialise in Botox® treatments and ensure that we obtain effective, yet, natural-looking results for our patients.
As we get older, expression lines such as forehead lines and crow’s feet can make us look tired, angry or sad, when we really aren’t. Wrinkle-smoothing injections, or Botox® as it is commonly known, is one of the most popular non-surgical treatments for both men and women, to help temporarily smooth crow’s feet and forehead lines and give a fresher, more wide-awake look to the face. At Rosie Cooper Aesthetics in Leamington Spa and Oxford, we specialise in Botox® treatments and ensure that we obtain effective, yet, natural-looking results for our patients.
Botox® is actually a brand name for a substance called Botulinum Toxin Type A; a neurotoxin that has been used in medicine for many years. In 2002, Botox® was licensed for use for frown lines and the upper face, to temporarily reduce wrinkles and offer a more youthful appearance. Botox® addresses ‘dynamic’ lines (those caused by expression) and helps to smooth these lines by blocking the nerve signals to the muscles which create movement. However, do not be alarmed, as Rosie Cooper has extensive experience as a Botox® specialist and is medically-qualified to administer this prescribed drug; you will still be able to form expressions and will not look fake or over-done, after your procedure.
Most people over the age of 25 who are beginning to see expression lines and wrinkles in the upper face, can undergo a Botox® treatment. However, there are contraindications to consider (such as pregnancy and breast feeding), as well as taking in to account that Botox® will not be effective on deep-set static lines or furrows. Therefore, we will ask that you attend a no obligation consultation, prior to treatment, so we can assess your facial concerns and check your medical history, to make sure Botox® will be both suitable for your specific requirements and safe for you to undergo.
As the needles used for this treatment are extremely fine, and the injections, superficially made, there is very little discomfort with this treatment. Therefore, a topical anaesthetic is not usually required. If you are particularly nervous or squeamish, please let us know at your consultation, and we can make the necessary arrangements for a topical numbing cream.
Results can usually be seen fully, after 2 to 3 weeks. However, many of our patients state that they start to experience a smoother complexion after as little as 48 hours. Everyone is different.
Every patient experiences different timings when it comes to longevity of results and this can depend on your individual response to treatment, as well as lifestyle choices which can affect the condition of the skin (such as smoking or excessive sun exposure). Certain cosmetic procedures can hinder the length of the results, so this is worth discussing in your consultation. However, in most cases, our patients enjoy their results for 3 to 6 months.
